6:51 pm - CNN on ESC

It was always interesting to me what Brits and Americans think about ESC. Just because it's a sight from behind. Here is an article on ESC. Some interesting quotations from.

...Research appears to confirm this -- a British computer expert has identified a "Balkan bloc" and a "Viking empire" of like-minded nations.

Like the European Union, Eurovision is changing, its center of gravity shifting eastward.

Winners these days are often from central and eastern Europe, where Europop rules the musical roost. Ukraine won in 2004, Turkey the year before that and Latvia in 2002.

Finally... "And there was good news also for Americans -- the event is soon to be replicated on U.S. television." Cool! Go west! :-)

Hey!

Everyone here seems to come from somewhere in Europe, but i'm an Australian who happens to like Eurovision...yeah, we see it over here as well!
I think it's the funniest thing to watch - this year's was good (eg.Moldova! But I'm also a big fan of Sweden's), but personally I prefer last year's. Ruslana was awesome!!

It was awsome!

Next time Ukraine should invite Chantal Kreviazuk to sing on behalf of Ukraine, because she is like Helen from Greece is an expatriot :-)

Norway's Wig Wam is the best entry I have ever seen in the Eurovision. I really hope they win, or at least come somewhere near the top.

I´m from Finland and I have to admit that Finland in the most horrible land in Eurovision 2005 - competition. it has always been and it will always be. Maybe our neighbour Sweden should help us because they're pretty good. :D

2 - Iceland

3 - Hungary

4 - Bosnia and Herzegovina

5 - Slovenia

6 - FYR Macedonia

7 - Albania

8 - Belarus

9- Spain

Hey, just joined.

i like lots of entries this year, but i really love few of them.
the best in my opinion are:-

United Kingdom - i usually dislike British entries but this years i think its fab. with as strong a performence as on MYMU itll do very well.

Iceland - excellent entry, with a performer who knows what she is doing.

Switzerland - i love vanilla ninja, so even if they just stood there for three minutes i'd like it, and i do. its a good entry, bit differnt from what i expected.

I also love Monaco, Slovenia, Spain and Austria.
although i just heard that Monaco might not compete anymore
i am sad about this.

Hey! I'm a long time follower of Eurovision since I lived in Sweden. So hence I'm joining this group!

So who do you guys think will make it to the top 10? I had a good listen to the songs on the official Eurovision site. And I have my faves..

Netherlands - Glennis Grace - My Impossible Dream
Romania - Lumnuita Anghel Sistem - Let Me Try
United Kingdom - Javine - Touch My Fire
Malta - Chiara - Angel
Latvia - Walters and Kazha - The War is not Over

So these are my top 5. Geeze its hard to believe its only a month and a bit away.

2:08 am - Woo! Eurovision!

mysteryperson_x
I, uh, actually don't have much interest in Eurovision. But Matio made me join. That being the case, here is my verdict on the 3 Eurovision songs I have heard (for 3 is fewer than 10 and therefore not enought to create a top 10 list):

Ireland: Donna & Joseph, "Love?"
This is cheesy as hell, and has random tapdancing. I initially didn't like it at all - the lyrics seem poorly written, and it's just generally not much of a good pop song - but it did grow on me by the end. The guy is SO gay.

Switzerland: Vanilla Ninja, "Cool Vibes"
This rocks. Lyrics are a little on the cheesy side, but it's nicely rock-ish and catchy. An enjoyable listen. Matio seems to think this will win, but it's good, so I predict it will crash and burn

UK: Javine, "Touch My Fire"
This is incredibly mediocre. It's not bad, but I feel absolutely no desire to ever listen to it again.

And thus conclude my opinions. Note: I didn't use a cut, just to spite Matio. So there :P
